Sitting in the shadow of the Radcliffe Camera in Oxford having a coffee with Emma and Alistair before heading off on their engagement session there is an air of excitement as we chat about their upcoming wedding at Blenheim Palace. It is one of those crisp Autumn days where the sunlight seems brighter and the air fresher. Getting to know Emma and Alistair in the midst of Oxford’s most historic landmarks seems fitting as Oxford is where this couple first met and fell in love. Both students at the time, the story goes that Emma caught Alistair’s eye at the university bus stop where all the students would catch a ride into town. This fateful spot would also be where years later Alistair would go down on one knee and ask Emma to marry him.
Not only was this an engagement session in the city that has played such an integral part in their history, it would also be the couple’s last hurrah in Oxford before the two of them moved to Hong Kong the following week. The thrill of new adventures made the morning all the more meaningful. As we discovered the ancient streets and crannies of Oxford the focus was on the future with their new lives overseas and of course returning for their wedding at Blenheim Palace in 2014. As Oxford wedding photographers we also loved having the university city as the backdrop for Emma and Alistair’s couple’s shoot.
We had a great morning with Emma and Alistair, learning about them and their story. Their love for each other is unmistakable and their ardor for life infectious. We can’t wait for their wedding and wish them all the best as they start their new lives in Hong Kong!
