Last week Glen surprised me for Valentine’s day with a visit to Le Manoir for afternoon tea! It was perfect! When we arrived at Le Manoir it was snowing heavily. Before I could open the car door one of their delightful staff members was there umbrella in hand. Now when a girl spends twenty minutes blow drying her hair in the morning to go out, she really appreciates the little touches such as this that saves her hairdo. We were welcomed in and sat right in front of a blazing fire, which provided a cosy and relaxing atmosphere to enjoy the afternoon. Champers first! Le Manoir’s own bubbles, which combined with the roasting fire meant we were soon warmed up from the cold outside. Then we were brought the pièce de résistance, three tiers of edible delights with extra on the side! Delicious sandwiches with all manner of fillings, the most beautiful cakes and pastries, macaroons and of course gorgeous scones with homemade strawberry jam and clotted cream. Heaven. To accompany the divine savoury and sweet treats we each chose a specialist tea blend, especially made for Le Manoir in France. I chose the Tibetan tea with aromatic orange notes and Glen went for something a bit more classic but equally lovely, French breakfast tea. It was a splendid way to spend some time together and both of us felt spoilt and relaxed, a complete escape from everyday life for an unforgettable afternoon.
