The First time Nicki and I met Nicki Mihri Jones was at the start of a six week trip from South Africa to Nairobi back in 2009. Nicki had just finished volunteering in Malawi and was joining us and a whole host of other travelers who decided that spending six weeks on an overland truck sleeping in tents at night was a good idea. It was not long into the trip that we got to know Nicki and heard that she had left someone rather important behind in the UK. Alex her boyfriend had not been able to make the trip with her and so they had made the hard decision to spend some months on different continents. Alex had even given her a T-shirt printed with his face on it which provided lots of entertainment when Nicki shared that around the campfire. It was just a shame that Alex missed Nicki’s birthday that year where she took on and beat a Namibian game ranger in a drinking contest. (Sadly she did suffer for it the next day) Well two years on and we have the honour of being asked to photograph Nicki and Alex’s wedding day to be held at Brockton Grange in Shropshire. The couple now live in London and so for their engagement session we headed to Hampstead Heath. The timing of this session was perfect Spring had just arrived and the weather was glorious. Nicki and Alex are thinking of moving out of London and so we headed to Parliament Hill looking out over the city to create a shot for them to remember their time in London by. It sounds like Nicki and Alex’s wedding is going to go off with quite a bang and we are delighted to be there as both photographers and friends.
